President Bhandari observes Louvre Abu Dhabiu and Grand Mosque
ABU DHABI :
President Bidya Devi Bhandari observed the Louvre Museum based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Tuesday.
Manuel Rabate, director of Louvre Abu Dhabi welcomed the President. On the occasion, Director Rabate and other officials of the museum had briefed the President about different aspects of the artifacts in the museum.
President Bhandari was accompanied by Supply Minister Jayant Chand on the occasion. Also present on the occasion were UAE Ambassador to Nepal Saeed Hamdan Al-Nakel and Nepal’s Charge d’ Affaires to UAE Netra Bahadur Tandan.
Louvre Abu Dhabi is a museum of art and civilization. The museum was inaugurated in 8 November 2017. This is a part of 30-year contract between the French government and Abu Dhabi. It is stretched over 24,000 square metres land and 8,000 square metres of the museum has been occupied by the exhibition rooms.
This is considered to be the biggest museum in the Arabian sub-continent constructed at an estimated cost of Dirham 600 millions.
Meanwhile, President Bhandari also observed the Sheikh Zayad Grand Mosque Centre in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.
President Bhandari was received by Yousif Al Obaidli, Director-General of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre.
A team headed by the Director General briefed President Bhandari about different aspects of the Grand Mosque.
On the occasion, President Bhandari put her signature in the attendance book kept at the Grand Mosque and she was offered a book on the history and art of the mosque from the Centre.
The Grand Mosque Centre is taken to be the main prayer hub in the UAE.
Former President of the UAE Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Ul Nahyan established the Centre for integrating the cultural diversities of Islamic world.
Currently President Bhandari is in the United Arab Emirates on a four-day official visit at the invitation of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nayhan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
