New policy needed to boost-up carpet exports : Minister Biswakarma
Kathmandu, August 11 :
The twelfth annual general meeting of Nepal Carpets Exporters Association (NCEA) has elected 18 member new executive committee in the leadership of Ram Bahadur Gurung. Addressing the welcome program of new executive body held on Friday at hotel Radisson minister for Commerce Min Bahadur Biswakarma assured of promoting the exports of Nepali carpets to abroad including America and European countries from the government level.
He further initiated that though the condition of carpets export was going down it would be improved in near future adding if new policy was needed to introduce the government of Nepal would have no problem in doing so.
Among those opined on the occasion were the secretary of Commerce Ministry, outgoing president of NCEA Anup Bahadur Malla, vice-president of FNCCI Chandra Prasad Dhakal and current NCEA president Ram Bahadur Gurung. They showed their concern about the downfall of carpets export.
Speaking at the program economic and commercial officer of Kathmandu based USA Embassy Kevin C. Price said that America was always welcoming the exports of Nepali carpets with big hands if Nepal could export as much as possible stating since the quality of Nepali carpets was so good America wanted to increase imports of Nepali carpets to their country.
Meanwhile, on behalf of NCEA minister Biswakarma felicitated Managing Director of Himalayan Art Carpet and newly elected NCEA member Norbu Lama, MD of Shangrilla Carpet and Handicrafts Industries and NCEA member Tenjin Jopa Lama, MD of Third Eye International and NCEA member Chhewang Dendul Lama, MD of NP Rox Industries and NCEA member Tenjing Sherpa and , MD of Tufinkiyan Nepal Tshering Wangdu for their appreciable contribution in carpets export.
Likewise, economic and commercial officer of Kathmandu based USA Embassy Kevin C. Price was also felicitated for his outstanding role in importing Nepali carpets to America.
