Mango production declines in Siraha
The production of mango has decreased in Siraha, also known as capital of mango, this year.
According to the District Agriculture Development Office, the mango production decreased this year due to plant diseases and also the fact that the production was high last year.
Horticulture Officer Bindeshwor Yadav said that 43,428 metric tons of mangoes were produced in 5,170 hectare of land this year.
As a result, the price of mango has increased with the decrease in production. Now the price of ‘Maldah’ mango is Rs 100 per kg this year against Rs 50 last year where as the ‘Bambai’ mango is Rs 120 against Rs 40 last year.
The mango produced in the district is exported to different cities of the country including Kathmandu, Biratnagar and Pokhara as well as to neighbouring countries.
