Rural municipality cracks down on schools violating set standards



 Authorities have taken action against two private schools in Duduwa Rural Municipality of Banke district for operating against set standards.

The classes run without licence by Rapti English Boarding School of Betahani area and Academy English Medium Boarding School have been terminated.

The village education committee meeting held on Friday took the decision to enforce the closure of Grades 3, 4 and 5 of Rapti Boarding School and Grades 2, 3, 4 and 5 of Academy School.

The committee and the rural municipality chairman, Narendra Kumar Chaudhary, said explanations were sought from the schools before action was taken. There are a total of 10 schools in the rural municipality.

Rural municipality’s Education Section Officer, Khagendra Malla, said the local government had started to regulate schools running outside regulations and in violation of set standards. He added that such schools would not be permitted to operate for at least a year.

The rural municipality has said that it is strictly monitoring the schools for upgrading quality, education management and effectiveness. It has also set up e-attendance machines in community schools.
