Sanskritik Sansthan working to preserve local art and culture
Sanskritik Sansthan, the cultural undertaking of the government, has been vigorously working to preserve and promote the rare dances and music of various indigenous communities in the country.
According to the Sansthan, there are 51 different cultural genres of dance, music and folk songs, including Charya dance, Arya Tara dance, Pancha Buddha dance, Kumari dance, Bhairab Kali dance, and Bajrayogini dance, along with Tamangselo, Sakela, Dhimal, Satar, Dhintamai, Sorathi among others.
Works of Sanskritik Sansthan include preservation and promotion of various cultural elements such as drama, dance, music, musical instruments that are on the verge of disappearance, conducting research and studies into such elements, as well as training artists on these aspects of culture.
The Sansthan has also been involved in recommending the trained students to represent the country in the international arena.
Sansthan’s information officer Pabitra Pangeni said that they have organised a total of 62 cultural programmes in various places of the country this year.
The artists produced by the Sansthan who have been contributing in the sector of art include Yuvaraj Ghimire, Rajan Khatiwada, Krishna Shah Yatri, Pradeep Puma, Saranga Shrestha, Soni Gurung, Menuka Bhandari, Bimala Shrestha, Khadka Budha, and Shiva Pariyar among others.
