The Supreme Court has issued an interim order barring the implementation of the government decisions from relocating the district headquarters of Rukum East.
A single bench of Dipak Kumar Karki on Thursday issued this order ruling that the headquarters Rukumkot should not be relocated.
NC Pesident Sher Bahdur Deuba-led government on January 18 decided to relocate the headquarters from Rukumkot to Puthauttar Ganga, Golkhanda. Earlier, three advocates including Ganesh Hamal had filed a writ petition demanding cancellation of the decision.
Advocates Surya Dhungel, Upendra Keshari Pokharel, Raman Kumar Shrestha and Tika Ram Bhattarai had advocated against the government decision during the hearing on Thursday.
Locals of Rukumkot have been staging a protest against the decision for the last eight days. They have imposed a general strike since the decision was made last week.
