Govt formation after NA poll, says Dahal
CPN-Maoist Centre Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal today stated that the process of forming the new government would move ahead after the National Assembly election.
Speaking at a press meet jointly organised by Press Chautari Nepal, Chitwan, and Press Centre, Chitwan, at Bharatpur airport, Dahal claimed that the CPN-UML and CPN-MC would be unified before formation of the new government. “Discussions on party unification are under way and are moving in a positive direction. We are working to finalise the unification modality before the new government is formed,” said Dahal.
He also said both the parties had directed their second–rung leaders not to make unnecessary public comments on party unification. “The rumour that each party will have 50 per cent stake in the unified party is not true. There is no controversy about sharing positions between the two party chairs as the matter was already decided at the time of forming the electoral alliance. Our main concern is not who should be prime minister or party chair in the unified party. Our main concerns are good governance, prosperity and national unity,” said Dahal.
The two-time prime minister said there was no obstruction in proceeding with National Assembly election. “A meeting of five major political forces today agreed to fix the date of the National Assembly poll very soon,” Dahal said.
He also informed that the meeting agreed to authorise the government to appoint province chiefs and temporary provincial capitals. “Though the state assembly has the authority to declare the provincial capital, we are ready to endorse the government’s decision if it is scientific,” said Dahal.
